THE FLOOD

Regional or Global?
It amazes me that there is such a debate about the flood. Growing up, the story I've always learned is that there was a worldwide flood and all things died except Noah, his family, and two of every animal. Noah was told by God to build an ark which would save them, and he did. I've always lived in my little TCA bubble, but lately multiple point of views have been brought to my attention. I had never realized how many different views of the bible there really are. Having been brought up believing Global, I don't think I'll be changing my mind anytime soon. However, I will not initiate or prolong an argument based on whether it is Regional or Global. In my opinion, I do not think it truly matters. Yes, this could be an excuse because I honestly don't know, but that's okay with me. I do not know all the answers to all the Biblical controversies, but there a few that cannot be disagreed with. When it comes to the flood, I think it should be our primary goal to focus on what we know. God sent the flood -whether in one little region or over the entire world- as a sign that we are a decrepit and evil land. We were living against God's will and needed an eye-opener. I believe that no matter how large or small the flood was, we need to remember that it was not just to clear out the lands. It was to teach us a lesson which I think can be agreed by all perspectives. Also, God sent the rainbow as a covenant to remind us He would never do it again, and He has flooded regions before. That kind of makes me think that it was Global..
